Description
1886-model kepi and scarf of a Commander of the 162nd Infantry Regiment.
The cap and turban are made of fine scarlet woollen cloth, with a black headband. The cap is adorned with a double-strand Hungarian bow. The rank braids are gold. On the front of the headgear, the numbers ‘142’ are embroidered in gold cannetille thread (oxidised). The peak is made of black patent leather and edged with a black leather band; the underside is lined with green waxed leather. Faux chin strap in flat gold braid and a black patent leather slide-fastening chin strap, fastened by two small gold-plated metal buttons stamped with the image of a flaming pomegranate. Inner cap lining in yellow silk from ‘Michel SPIQUEL & Cie, 20 rue des Capucines, Paris’ and a fawn-coloured leather headband. Complete.
