Germany: set of 2 firemen’s helmets, including one from Neidingen, now in Belgium. A composite helmet made of sheet metal, painted black, with the paintwork on the rear. Iron crest, plaque bearing the coat of arms of the Lower Rhine and a banner bearing the name ‘Neidingen’, a former German municipality now part of Belgium. Restored helmet, rear chin strap, inner lining missing. A leather helmet with brass fittings, featuring a sturdy crest with large rivets. Manufacturer’s plate: J. G. Lier of Biberach. Complete with liner and chinstrap. A composite sheet-metal helmet painted black at a later date, with an iron crest, a coat-of-arms plate of the Lower Rhine and a Neidingen scroll, from a former German municipality now part of Belgium. Restored helmet, later chinstrap, liner missing. The other helmet is made of leather with brass fittings and a prominent, large-riveted crest. It bears a maker’s plate marked ‘J. G. Lier of Biberach’. Complete with liner and chinstrap.
