Description
France, firefighter’s helmet from Kientzheim, in Alsace. A brass helmet with a crest, of German Imperial design, bearing the manufacturer’s mark ‘Beuttenmuller’ of Bretten, modified after 1918 by the addition of a French-style plate featuring the banner of the Kientzheim Fire Brigade, in the Haut-Rhin. As the helmet is nickel-plated and the plate is of fine workmanship, it is probably an officer’s helmet. Plume holder present, lining missing. Signs of wear and patina.
