Description
Trench sign indicating the command post of Mr Pimouget, company commander. A sign made of untreated wood, with stencilled inscriptions indicating the company command post of Officer Pimouget. As I have been unable to find this exact surname, it may be a spelling mistake and therefore refer to Captain Pimouguet of the 57th Infantry Regiment, though this cannot be confirmed. On the reverse is a label, which is difficult to read, stating that it was a gift to a Lieutenant, in memory of …1916…and possibly at the end of the 57th Infantry Regiment’s service, which would tend to corroborate the hypothesis regarding Captain Pimouguet. Dimensions: 60 x 18 cm. Good condition. Trench sign marking Company Commander Pimouget’s headquarters. An unfinished wooden board with a stencilled inscription identifying Officer Pimouget’s company command post. As this exact surname has not been found, it might refer to Captain Pimouguet of the 57th Infantry Regiment, though this cannot be confirmed. A label on the back, which is difficult to read, suggests it was presented to a lieutenant as a souvenir of …1916… and possibly mentions the 57th Infantry Regiment (57RI), supporting that hypothesis. 60 x 18 cm. Good condition.
