Description
Shortened French M1886 bayonet with a scabbard bearing the same serial number. The blade of this Lebel M1886 bayonet was most likely shortened at the arsenal and has a total length, excluding the scabbard, of 43.3 cm. A model sometimes referred to as a ‘cyclist’s bayonet’ by collectors, with a nickel-silver grip and quillon, which has the distinctive feature of still having its scabbard bearing the same serial number, which has also been shortened. In very fine condition. Shortened French M1886 bayonet with matching-number scabbard. Lebel M1886 sword bayonet, probably shortened at the arsenal to 43.3 cm overall length excluding the scabbard. Sometimes referred to as a ‘cyclist’s bayonet’ by collectors. Nickel silver grip and quillon. Remarkably, it retains its matching-number scabbard, which has also been shortened. Very good condition.
