M1887 knapsack, modified in 1895, from the Kaiser Franz Guard Grenadier Regiment No. 2. German cowhide knapsack, Model 1887, modified in 1895 with the new style of shoulder straps. Issued very early on in 1886 and then again in 1899 to the Kaiser Franz Guard Grenadier Regiment No. 2 (KFGGR2). Significant wear and tear, patches where the cowhide is missing, tears and a few missing parts and defects in the straps and buckles. Included is a beige canvas case for tent pegs, with no visible markings, containing 3 wooden tent pegs. Wear and patina.
