Estimate €1,500 - €3,000
Description
German Stahlhelm M18 helmet with notches. A fine shell with its anti-glare feldgrau paint finish. Although barely visible, the E.T.64 marking is clearly present; this was the sole manufacturer and the only size ever produced for this type of helmet. Note the presence of a ‘62’ marking near the latter. Good 1918-model liner comprising 32 white leather panels pressed onto an iron rim, with their yellow canvas straps and padding. A good, detachable chin strap, riveted on the narrow side, complete. The buckle guard is marked with the name of a rather uncommon manufacturer, BAGIER & Co DRESDEN. The rivets and their external positions on the shell show signs of handling. The liner was replaced at some point during the helmet’s lifetime, but all components are authentic. Normal wear and tear, patina. German M1918 ear-cutout Stahlhelm. A fine helmet shell retaining its non-reflective field-grey paint. E.T.64 marking present, though faint; this is the only known maker and size for this helmet type. An additional 62 marking is visible nearby. Correct 1918-pattern liner with three white leather pads on an iron band, complete with yellow canvas ties and cushions. Correct detachable chinstrap riveted on the short side, complete. Buckle protector marked by the uncommon maker BAGIER & Co., DRESDEN. Rivets and their positions on the shell show signs of handling. The liner was replaced during the helmet’s service life, but all components are authentic. Wear and patina.
