Description
Belgian medic’s bag, reused by the German Ulanen Regiment No. 11. A fine Belgian medic’s kit, Model 1910, for military stretcher-bearers and Red Cross personnel on active duty. The Red Cross emblem and a number are painted on the flap. It comes with a shoulder strap; the belt loops have been removed. Under the flap, there is an ink stamp from an organisation in Elberfeld, Germany, dated 1916, and a receipt stamp from BA XV, the date of which is difficult to read but is probably also 1916. Handwritten annotation in the name of Johann Broder of the 1st Squadron of the 11th Uhlan Regiment, the 2nd of Brandenburg. Inside, a pair of German scissors – the leather loop is unstitched on one side – a large packet of dressings marked ‘Heeresbekleidung Koblenz’, and two small packets, one of which is open. In very good, fresh condition. Belgian medic’s satchel reused by the German 11th Uhlan Regiment. Fine Belgian M1910 medical orderly’s satchel for military stretcher-bearers and mobilised Red Cross personnel. Red cross and number painted on the flap. Shoulder strap present; belt loops removed. Beneath the flap, an ink stamp from an organisation in Elberfeld, Germany, dated 1916, and a BA XV acceptance stamp, probably also from 1916.
