Paul NERI (1910-1965) View of Meknes in Morocco Oil on canvas Signed lower right and dated 38 x 61.5 cm Paul Néri was an Orientalist painter born in 1910 who lived for many years in Morocco. He settled in the Meknes region, from where he travelled throughout the rest of the country. The Orient and the region around Marrakech and the valleys of the High Atlas were his main sources of inspiration. He set out to document the oases, towns and scenes of life he encountered. While the oriental landscape is his favourite theme, he also attaches particular affection to fantasia.
