Description
17th-century French school, circle of Robert Nanteuil. Portrait of a man with his hair worn naturally, a moustache and a small goatee, in a bust view almost from the front, three silver buttons and a gold-trimmed buttonhole visible on his coat, contrasting with his large, simple turn-down collar. Oil on metal, visible oval 6.2 x 4.8 cm. Minor restorations. Later Baroque-style frame, in cast and gilded metal, total height 9.8 cm On the reverse, a handwritten label (indicating provenance?) reading ‘Christ[ie’s?] 25.X.89’ Expert: N. Lemoine-Bouchard.
