Sèvres
A soft-paste porcelain teacup and saucer with polychrome decoration of semis of barbs and rows of pearls in pink.
Marked: double interlaced L, letter-date MM, painter's mark Taillandier.
18th century, circa 1789.
H. 5 cm, D. 13.5 cm.
Restoration to the handle.
This tea cup comes from the pearls and barbs service of the Countess d'Artois delivered on 26 April 1788. Part of this service is kept at the Château de Versailles. The Comtesse d'Artois received an additional set in 1789 comprising 2 tea chests and 12 goblets 2eme perles et barbeaux at 12 livres each. One of the tea boxes dated 1789 is now in the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris (see Pierre Verlet, Sèvres, pl. 92b, see also David Peters,
