Description
Sèvres Monsieur le Premier's oval covered sugar bowl on an adherent tray in soft porcelain with polychrome decoration of vases and urns in medallions on a blue background decorated with arabesques and framed by pearls in black on a carmine background. Mark: double L interlaced, letter-date NN for 1790, Vieillard painter's mark. 18th century, circa 1790. Length: 22 cm. This sugar bowl comes from the service bought by Empaytaz et compagnie in 1794, the decoration of which is described as "petit bleu background, arabesques, cartels of vases and carmine circles" (see David Peters, no. 94- 10).
