Provenance: Private collection in Paris.
Winner of a travel grant from the Indochina government, Paul Jouve embarked from Marseille at the end of the summer of 1922 for a long trip to the Far East.
He spent nearly three months in Angkor, from where he brought back numerous studies that were used, in particular, to illustrate Le Pellerin d'Angkor by Pierre Loti.
