LOUIS VUITTON, Rue Scribe. LARGE TRAVEL TRUNK, wooden core covered in coated striped canvas, wooden reinforcements, metal fittings, leather strap and four castors. Quilted canvas lining in the lid. ‘LV DEPOSE’ engraved on both locks. House paper label inside, no. 15917 and 289 Oxford Street, Regent’s Circus, LONDON, and a stamp on the underside of the trunk. Marked ‘RL’ on both side panels. Manufactured circa 1885–1889. 44 x 80 x 47 cm. Leather strap worn, canvas showing signs of damp, two travel labels affixed, dents on the metal reinforcements.
