Description
A moulded glass tumbler bearing, on one side, the profile of Louis-Napoléon Bonaparte surrounded by the inscription ‘Louis Napoléon 11 Président’, and on the opposite side, the inscription ‘R. F. 1852’, framed by two flags and surmounted by a crowned eagle. In 1852, Louis-Napoléon Bonaparte, who had been President since 1848, was nearing the end of his term of office. The goblet was intended to encourage his re-election. In fact, following the coup d’état of 2 December 1851, he became Emperor of the French under the name Napoleon III. Height: 9.1 cm.
