Description
Simone Negri Accadimento #120 Sculpture Stoneware and black glaze 2022 H68 W38 D37 cm Standing nearly seventy centimetres tall, No. 120 is one of the largest sculptures in the round from the Accadimento series. In this piece, the Italian ceramicist Simone Negri pushes stoneware to the limits of its resilience: the form emerges from the manipulation of the material, then set by firing, without seeking to erase the traces of the process. The black glaze unifies the surface and transforms every fold into a line of shadow. Through its scale and density, the work follows in the tradition of Italian sculptural ceramics, from Leoncillo to Nino Caruso.
