Description
Peter and Denise Orlando Cup and saucer with abstract decoration Ceramic Circa 1955 Saucer: L 19.5, W 17 cm; Cup: H 11, L 17, D 7 cm. In very good original condition This cup and saucer reflect the attention paid in the 1950s to tableware as a medium for creative expression. The abstract, free-flowing and graphic design extends from the saucer to the cup, transforming an ordinary set into a work of art. The size, more generous than that of a standard cup, enhances the decorative quality of the set. A piece representative of post-war studio ceramics, where painting and pottery come together in everyday gestures.
