Description
Fabrice Ausset Gold Nénuphar Rug Merino wool and silk Year of creation: 2015 L350 W238 cm The water lily motif, which painting has long associated with Claude Monet’s variations at Giverny, finds a textile interpretation in Fabrice Ausset’s work: floating leaves and reflections laid flat on the ground, as seen from the bank. The Gold version, dating from 2015, plays on golden tones that the silk makes shimmer depending on the angle and lighting. The contrast between the matt, dense areas of merino wool and the silky sections gives the motif a distinctive depth. A work in which the designer approaches the rug as a pictorial surface.
