Description
Fabrice Ausset Water Lily Rug Merino wool and silk Year created: 2019 L350 W238 cm In 2019, Fabrice Ausset returned to the theme of the water lily, a botanical motif that painting has long associated with Claude Monet’s ponds at Giverny. The botanical motif, spread across the entire surface, breaks away from the centred composition of the traditional rug and reads like a fragment of a pond. The silk emphasises the contours and reflections, whilst the merino wool ensures the density of the pile. This return to the same subject, in the manner of a series of paintings, demonstrates the importance the architect attaches to textiles in his work.
