Description
Seung-Ho Yang Sculpture Stoneware Circa 1990 H47 cm A ceramicist of Korean origin, Seung-Ho Yang’s work lies at the intersection of the Far Eastern stoneware tradition and contemporary sculpture. This work from the 1990s, standing nearly half a metre tall, prioritises volume and the presence of the material over any utilitarian function. The stoneware, fired at a high temperature, retains the density and nuances imparted by the clay and the fire. A sculpture of great simplicity, where the form seems to emerge from the material itself, in the spirit of a ceramic art that values silence and slowness.
