Working together from 1981 to 2001, Élizabeth Garouste and Mattia Bonetti made their mark right from the start with their ‘Barbarian’ furniture, which broke with functionalism and returned to raw materials and archaic forms. In 1987, they designed the interiors for the Christian Lacroix fashion house, cementing their reputation. This bronze box, produced in 1994, encapsulates their design language on a human scale: a precious, slightly irregular object, where patina and form take precedence over geometry. A piece representative of French design from the 1980s and 1990s, alongside the work of Philippe Starck and Olivier Gagnère.
