Description
Carlo Giorgi Rabarbaro Floor lamp Brass Produced by Bottega Gadda, Milan, Italy Year of creation: 1971 H170 W49 D47 cm Carlo Giorgi designed a series of light fittings inspired by the plant world for Bottega Gadda, a Milanese workshop specialising in brasswork. The Rabarbaro, meaning ‘rhubarb’ in Italian, is part of this collection: large brass leaves, cut and curved, unfurl at the top of a stem and diffuse the light through reflection. The design reflects the 1970s taste for stylised nature, offering a counterpoint to the radical design then dominant in Milan. The hand-crafted brass lends the piece its warm lustre.
