Description
MJ Tomasse Sculptural lamp, in the style of Albert Tormos Stone 1998 H87.6 (with shade) H30 W19 cm Good original condition, with a slight chip visible in the photographs In the 1960s and 1970s, Albert Tormos, a stonemason based in Provence, popularised lamps carved from limestone, characterised by their massive, organic forms. This lamp from 1998 follows in that tradition: the base, carved from a single block, retains the density and grain of the material, whilst the lampshade softens the overall effect. The contrast between the raw stone and the diffused light gives the piece a warm presence. A lamp with a Mediterranean feel, straddling the line between sculpture and lighting.
