In 1940s France, some interior designers turned away from modernism to reconnect with Antiquity and the 18th century, reinterpreted with imagination and economy. Emilio Terry, architect of the ‘Louis XVII style’, and the metalworker Gilbert Poillerat were leading figures in this movement. This lamp draws on their design language: an antique green patina, gilded highlights and a classical design. It can also be compared to the creations of Marc du Plantier, Jean-Charles Moreux and André Arbus.
