Description
André Dubreuil (1951–2022) Fire bowl (or log holder) Steel One-off piece Date of creation: 1988 H42 L59 D28 cm Commissioned by an English collector directly from the artist. Created in 1988 at the request of an English collector, this brazier dates from André Dubreuil’s years in London, prior to his move to the Périgord in 1992. Rejecting mass production, the artist considered himself more of a craftsman than a designer, and favoured unique pieces forged in his own workshop. This piece bears witness to that: the hand-worked steel transforms a fireplace accessory into a functional sculpture, in the Baroque style for which he was renowned. Its direct provenance from the artist and its status as a one-off piece make it a rare item within his body of work.
