Description
François-Xavier Lalanne (1927–2008) Hen Egg Cup Porcelain biscuit, Designed by François-Xavier Lalanne for La Porcelaine de Paris. Circa 1990 Signed ‘Lalanne’, with the manufacturer’s double-arrow monogram and marked ‘Paris’. H7.5 W8 D9 cm Very good original condition. Throughout his career, François-Xavier Lalanne made animals the central theme of his work, often giving them a practical function: sheep-seats, rhinoceros-desks, hippopotamus-bathtubs. This hen-shaped egg cup follows the same logic, on a scale suited to the breakfast table, with a clear sense of humour: the hen cradles the egg. The matt white porcelain body captures the purity of the simplified forms characteristic of the artist. Produced by La Porcelaine de Paris, it offers a chance to experience Lalanne’s bestiary in an intimate, signed and marked format.
