Wider than it is tall, this piece moves away from the vertical silhouette of a traditional vase to adopt a horizontal form, reminiscent of a mineral concretion. The title, which seems to evoke a stone, confirms the geological inspiration that runs through the work of Andriy and Olesya Voznicki. The glaze, applied to the clay, lends colour and depth to a form that resembles as much a fragment of rock as it does a vessel. A unique and signed piece, it forms part of the current revival of sculptural ceramics that focuses on the raw material.
