Description
Juliette Teste Flower Basket 4 (The Queen’s Hamlet) Sculpture Stoneware, sand, engobe, glaze 2026 H23 W22 D13 cm 1.5 kg For decorative use only The title refers to the Hameau de la Reine, an idealised rustic village that Marie-Antoinette had built at Versailles from 1783 onwards, complete with thatched cottages, a mill and a dairy. Juliette Teste draws on the idea of a dreamlike, rural architecture, which she translates into stoneware. The sand mixed with clay, the engobe and the glaze give the surface a contrasting texture, ranging from roughness to gloss. A recent sculpture that plays on historical and decorative memory, in an intimate format, straddling the line between a model and a poetic object.
