Description
After Giacomo Balla Fiori Futuristi Aloe Sculpture Steel Limited edition of 250, engraved with the identification number and the Centro Duchamp stamp. Simongavina Paradisoterrestre, 2004 H164 cm W95 D99 cm Slight signs of wear consistent with its age and use. Around 1918–1925, Giacomo Balla, a leading figure of Italian Futurism, conceived a series of ‘Futurist flowers’: plants cut out in geometric, colourful shapes, which interpret nature through the dynamic language of movement. These designs, most of which remained as painted cardboard models, were realised on a large scale by Dino Gavina, and later by his son Simon at Paradisoterrestre, as part of the Centro Duchamp, an organisation dedicated to the re-creation of avant-garde works. This steel Aloe, standing over one and a half metres tall, transforms an intimate design into a sculpture suitable for either an interior or a garden.
