Description
Kazuo TAKIGUCHI (born 1953) Untitled Vase Glazed ceramic Date of creation: circa 2010 One-off piece, supplied with its box H37.5 × W16 × D8 cm Slender and vertical, this vase by Kazuo Takiguchi takes the form of a stele or a single-flower vase, with a depth of just eight centimetres. The clay, worked into thin sheets, retains the suppleness and undulations characteristic of the artist, who seeks to reveal the very nature of the clay rather than impose a form upon it. The glaze emphasises the folds and tensions of the surface. Presented with its box, in accordance with Japanese custom, it offers an opportunity to appreciate the work of a renowned ceramist on the contemporary Japanese scene.
