Description
Kazuo TAKIGUCHI Vase Stoneware Date of creation: c. 1990 H23.5 L31 D26 cm Created around 1990, this stoneware vase belongs to an earlier period in Kazuo Takiguchi’s career, in which his interest in supple, organic forms is already evident. Stoneware, a dense material fired at high temperatures and central to the Japanese ceramic tradition, lends the piece a mineral quality. Wider than it is tall, the vase appears as a settled form, almost like a shaped stone. A piece that allows us to gauge the evolution of an artist committed to letting the material speak for itself.
