Basse Stittgen (born 1990) Charred table lamp Table lamp Lignin derived from wood, cable and bulb 2025 H54 W15.5 D15.5 cm With its slender silhouette, this table lamp reduces the object to a column of dark material, fashioned from lignin. This natural polymer, which gives wood its rigidity, is recovered by Basse Stittgen from industrial processes that discard it, and then transformed into a mouldable material. The designer follows in the tradition of design research into materials, paying close attention to their provenance and future use. The charred appearance of the Charred series lends the lamp a understated, almost graphic elegance that complements contemporary interiors.
