A founding member of the Memphis group alongside Ettore Sottsass in 1981, Matteo Thun began his career working with ceramics, before going on to become one of Italy’s most prolific architects and designers. With the ‘Vasi da colorare’ (‘vases to colour in’) collection, he returned to this original medium in 2015, in collaboration with Alessio Sarri’s Tuscan studio. The glaze, applied to only part of the surface, leaves the clay exposed elsewhere, like a partially filled page. As a prototype, this lamp bears the designer’s studio stamp.
