Description
Matteo Thun (born 1952) Lamp Crackled ceramic and wooden base Produced by Alessio Sarri, Prototype Signed at the bottom with the designer’s stamp “Matteo Thun Atelier” Date of creation: 2015 H52 Ø29 cm (without lampshade) Craquelure – a network of fine cracks that forms in the glaze as it cools – has been a sought-after effect since the Chinese ceramics of the Song dynasty. Matteo Thun uses it here to bring the surface of this generously proportioned lamp to life, with its wooden base providing a warm counterpoint. The pattern, created by the firing process itself, is partly beyond the ceramist’s control and makes each piece unique. A prototype created with Alessio Sarri in 2015, the lamp bears the designer’s studio mark.
