Description
Carlo Nason (born 1935) LS173 Ceiling light Pulegoso glass Circa 1970 D47 H24 cm Pulegoso glass, developed in Murano in the 1920s by Napoleone Martinuzzi, is characterised by a multitude of tiny bubbles trapped within the mass of the glass, giving it an opaque, matt and slightly rough appearance. Carlo Nason draws on this historic technique for a ceiling light with modern lines, where the bubbles diffuse the light and soften the illumination. This dialogue between glassmaking tradition and contemporary design lies at the heart of Nason’s work. A piece representative of Murano lighting from the 1970s.
