a blue and white bench in a room with large windows
Description
Fibrella Pool lounger A fibreglass garden and pool lounger, comprising a turquoise blue elongated seat and a sculptural white three-pronged base. This design allows the lounger to be set in two reclining positions. Distributed by Le Barron, California Circa 1960 H85.1 L195.5 D155 cm Signs of wear on the seat Fibrella refers to an American range of fibreglass outdoor furniture, launched around 1961–1962 and designed for terraces and poolside areas; labels mention Le Barron, in California, as the distributor. This sun lounger embodies the optimism of post-war California, where the swimming pool became the heart of domestic life and where new industrial materials, such as fibreglass popularised by Charles and Ray Eames, found their way into furniture design. The elongated turquoise seat rests on a sculptural three-pronged base that allows for two reclining positions. A testament to American mid-century design.
