Macchia Vecchia marble top, base in wood and various types of marble
H80 W60 D38 cm
80 kg
Having always been fascinated by stones and materials from the Mediterranean, Ettore Sottsass devoted a significant part of his work to marble, treating it not as a material of prestige but as a source of colours and veining to be combined. Demistella combines a Macchia Vecchia marble top with a base that blends wood and marbles of various hues, in a juxtaposition characteristic of his postmodern style. The piece is as much a work of miniature architecture as it is a piece of furniture, reminiscent of a small domestic altar. A work in which stone becomes colour and volume.
