Description
Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret Standardised N.V. wardrobe for a bedroom Clarté Building, Geneva, c. 1932 H180 W50 D50 cm In Geneva, the Clarté building, completed in 1932, is one of Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret’s earliest works featuring a steel and glass structure; it has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2016, alongside sixteen other works by the architect. For the flats, the two cousins designed standardised furniture, including these bedroom wardrobes, which embody their ‘standard cubicle’ principle. This piece, in a light green similar to the ‘light English green’ from the ‘Polychromie architecturale’ colour chart developed by Le Corbusier in 1931, resting on an off-white base, features a tall hanging rail and recesses for shelves.
