Description
Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret Standardised N.V. wardrobe for a bedroom Clarté Building, Geneva, c. 1932 H180 W50 D50 cm Within the architectural polychromy, greys play a unifying and balancing role, highlighting the brighter colours without dominating them. This wardrobe from the Clarté block illustrates this perfectly: a light mid-grey body, elegant and neutral, set upon a very dark grey, almost black, base, which emphasises its volume through contrast. A light-coloured vertical handle adds rhythm to the door. This standardised furniture, designed by Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret to furnish the flats, reflects their vision of a modern, rational and light-filled living space, where every element forms part of the architecture.
