Description
Bally Tshibangu (born in 2004) Untitled Oil on canvas Date of creation: 2025 H100 L105 cm Bally’s painting practice is characterised by a constant exploration of the ambiguous and subtle boundary between abstraction and figuration. For him, this creative process represents an inexhaustible source of questions and visual narratives, whilst also engaging the viewer’s mind, allowing for a personal and free interpretation of the work. His work draws its inspiration primarily from his surroundings, his identity, his memories, and images and objects from everyday life, which he reinterprets through an eclectic pictorial language, at times organic, at times geometric. Through this language, he transforms, distorts, simplifies, geometrises, deconstructs and reconstructs his subjects in order to develop a fascinating exploration of forms and volumes, as well as the relationships these maintain with colour and space. A Belgian-Congolese artist, Bally Tshibangu explores the ambiguous boundary between abstraction and figuration. He draws inspiration from his environment, his identity, his memories and everyday objects, which he reinterprets in a pictorial language that is at times organic, at times geometric: he transforms, simplifies, deconstructs and reconstructs his subjects to examine forms, volumes and their relationships with colour and space. This 2025 painting, in an almost square format, allows the viewer to interpret it freely and personally.
