Description
Simone Negri (1970) Accadimento #182 Sculpture Ceramic and cobalt oxide 2025 H36 W36 D9 cm Born in 1970, Simone Negri has made the Accadimento series – meaning ‘event’ – the centrepiece of his work: each numbered piece is created through a gesture applied to the clay – a fold, a press or a tear – which is then set by firing. This piece, number 182, created in 2025, combines ceramic with cobalt oxide, whose deep blue highlights the irregularities of the surface. Its slim profile gives it a frontal presence, somewhere between a bas-relief and a freestanding object. The work forms part of the dialogue between ceramics and informal abstraction, a tradition cherished in Italy.
