Description
Riccardo Gori (born 1960) Vase Porcelain with crystallised enamel decoration Artist’s monogram on the reverse Date of creation: 2000 H43 D14 cm With its tall, slender shape, this vase provides the crystallised enamel with a vertical surface on which the crystals spread out as if on a column. The technique, which originated in European factories in the late 19th century – from Sèvres to Copenhagen – relies on a zinc-rich enamel and a highly precise cycle of firing and cooling; the slightest deviation alters the result. Each piece is therefore unique, its crystals forming freely within the glassy mass. Riccardo Gori has mastered the subtleties of this technique on porcelain, whose whiteness enhances the shimmer. A vase signed with his monogram.
