Description
Riccardo Gori (born 1960)
Vase
Porcelain with crystallised enamel decoration
Artist’s monogram on the reverse
Date of creation: 2012
H46 D21 cm
Standing forty-six centimetres tall, this vase by Riccardo Gori is an ambitious piece in terms of technique, the difficulty of which increases with size: the larger the surface area, the greater the precision required in the firing and cooling processes to achieve uniform crystallisation. On this form, which is both slender and expansive, the crystals blossom into patterns that vary depending on the angle from which they are viewed. Created in 2012, the piece illustrates the artist’s maturity in a technique that demands patience and experimentation.
