Description
CESARE CASATI & CARLO EMANUELE PONZIO — STUDIO D.A. Pillola A set of five capsule-shaped lamps, with bodies in green, blue, red, yellow and cream, topped with white diffusers. Made from ABS plastic and acrylic Produced by Ponteur Plastic Date of creation: 1968 H. 55 cm Designed in 1968 by Cesare Casati and Emanuele Ponzio at Studio D.A., the Pillola lamps – meaning ‘pill’ – are among the icons of Italian pop design. Each lamp takes the form of an enlarged pharmaceutical capsule, with a coloured body topped by a white diffuser: an everyday object becomes a source of light, in the ironic spirit of an era fascinated by consumer society and plastic materials. Designed to be placed on the floor, tilted or grouped together, they come into their own when displayed as a set. This set brings together the five colours of the original collection.
