Gastone Rinaldi (1920–2006) Set of four dining chairs Thema edition, Italy, 1983 H100 W46 D43 cm Original leather cushions in very good condition, some signs of wear on the metal parts A set of four chairs with red metal frames, complete with original leather seat cushions. The bold colour scheme emphasises the design of the frames and gives this set a striking presence, characteristic of Italian furniture from the 1980s. An Italian designer born in Padua, Gastone Rinaldi carried out his early design work within the family-run company Rima. In 1954, he was awarded the Compasso d’Oro for the DU30 chair, before going on to work with Thema. His body of work centres on metal furniture, structural experimentation and the relationship between form and comfort.
