ESCOFFIER (Auguste, 1846-1935) to Charles HUMBERT (1966-1927), Senator for the Meuse (1908-1920).
Typescript LAS, dated 3 April 1917 and sent from the Carlton Hotel in London to Charles Humbert, in which Monsieur Escoffié expresses his ideas concerning the "oil crisis" and his enmity towards the German enemy.
In-4 on two pages, some wear.
Charles HUMBERT, holder of the Légion d'Honneur, member of parliament, journalist and then senator, was very active during the First World War. It was in his capacity as senator that Auguste Escoffier sought to contact him: "The 'Journal' of 29 March [1917] encourages me to address myself, confidentially, to your high judgement, for all matters concerning National Defence and which could ensure us victory over our enemies".
