Born in Salzburg in 1932, he completed an apprenticeship as a sign painter and initially worked in this profession before turning to fine art and specialising in watercolours. He remained active throughout his life in Salzburg and later in Henndorf, where he captured cityscapes and detailed architectural motifs using a fine, realistic technique. Damberger created atmospheric vedute and everyday scenes with precise observation, often depicting Salzburg’s alleyways and houses; his works bear witness to his technical precision.
