Square format (26 cm), with dust jacket, unpaginated (ca. 48 pp. of text) + 112 off-text colour reproductions (painting and sculpture) + list and biographies of 43 artists. In Arabic and English. Limited edition of 5,000 copies. Contributions by Dr Safwat Kamal, Dr Abdullah Taqi, Khalifa Al-Qattan, Mahmood Al-Radwan, Sulaiman Al-Shaheen and Sammir Mohammed.
A reference work tracing the development of the visual arts in Kuwait between 1950 and 1980. It looks at the major schools (al-Mubarakiyya, Atelier Libre), institutions (Kuwaiti Society of Visual Arts), pioneering initiatives (Ghazi Sultan Gallery) and founding figures such as Mu'jab Al-Dosary and Mohammad Al-Damkhi.

A member of the Kuwaiti Society of Fine Arts, Fareed Al-Ali is a well-known figure on the calligraphic scene, having exhibited in Kuwait, Iraq, Sharjah, the United Kingdom and France; he has also carried out numerous public commissions.
