Marbled calfskin, decorated ribbed spine, title page and volume number in havana and green morocco, triple gilt fillet framing the covers, marbled edges (contemporary binding). First edition of this major work on the history of forestry and timber harvesting in the 18th century, whose techniques and recommendations remain, to this day, the basis for forestry operations. A fine illustration comprising a lovely vignette at the head of the text, drawn and engraved by Prévost, and 36 fold-out plates engraved in intaglio, covering all aspects of timber harvesting.
