Calabria, Taranto. Diobolos ND (380–325 BC), Taranto.
Obverse: Head of Athena facing right, wearing an Attic helmet adorned with Scylla.
Reverse: Heracles crouching on the right, strangling the lion.
HGC 1, 830; Silver – 1.37 g – 11.5 mm – 10 h
Acquired from CB [Claude Burgan] in 1991.
With Scylla on the helmet on the obverse. No magistrate visible; the reverse is slightly off-centre. Beautiful shiny grey patina. Superb.
